- MVC Framework
Created a php MVC framework based on Symfony for all of the company's websites. The framework provides an intuitive architecture which allows new developers a shorter learning curve. The "model" uses Propel object-relational mapping to allow access to the database using object oriented php code. The "view" uses a template system similar to Smarty. The "control" uses a action file similar to the one used in Symfony which contains all of the interaction between the model and the view. This setup allows developers to manage the area within MVC with which they are most comfortable.
- MySQL
Extended and maintained to monitor several MySQL databases. The databases contained email, dns, and user information needed for the company's domain registration and email business. I also wrote cron-job scripts renew registrations, clean data and mirror multiple databases.
- SVN
Used SVN to manage all of the company's websites. Utilized and extended a publish script which pushed versions of the website to either the production or evaluation server.
- Administration tools
Built administrative tools to manage products and user data in order to allow non-technical personelle to manage the databases.
- SEO
Developed the Internet marketing plan for each of the company's websites. The plan increased targeted traffic and maximized conversions through a combination of keyword rich press releases, remote bookmarking, and restructuring of the local html.
- Maintained a custom shopping cart with credit card capabilities
The cart was database driven. All products could be managed from an admin site. The cart interfaced with a money handler that could accept credit cards. Upon finalization of the checkout transaction, the user's subscriptions would be updated in a local database and pushed to the remote database which handled the domain registrations.
- CSS
Developed the website's css to ensure many frontend changes could be made via CSS.
